The beauty and charm city of Puno is located at the southeast corner of Peru at the shores of Titicaca Lake over 12,467 feet in the border with Bolivia country.

As Puno is located at such a high elevation, it experiences more extreme weather conditions than would be expected for its sub-tropical latitude. The average annual temperature is about 15 °C and the weather never gets overly warm. During the winter months from June to August night temperatures usually drop well below 0 °C.
There is no doubt that main attraction is the amazing and bigger navigable lake of the world where there are thirty six islands and the most important of them are Uros,Taquile and Amantani.
The National Reserve of Titicaca has a great beauty; it has an enormous area of Totora (aquatic plant) that contrast with the water mirrors of the lake. This natural area protects 87 varieties of birds such as: flamencos, Huatallas, keles and Tiquis as well as twenty six species of fish (such as carachis, pejerreyes, trout, suches and ispis) and 18 species of amphibians among them the giant frog (La rana gigante or Keli) that lives just in the depth of the lake.
It has modest museums of regional archaeological pieces as the Museo Municipal Carlos Dreyer (Municipal Museum Dreyer) located in Conde de Lemos Nº 289 and the Museo de Arte Popular de Puno (Museum of Popular Art of Puno).
There is not airport in Puno city so you only can reach the nearest city of Juliaca by Plane which is at 45 kilometers from Puno. From Lima, Cusco and Arequipa
Lima to Juliaca flight takes two and a half hour. It has a stoppage either in Cusco or in Arequipa. There are several flights available, Lan Peru, Aero Condor and Star Peru fly in this route. Arequipa to Juliaca is a direct flight and takes around 40-50 minutes. There are several flights available, Lan Peru, Aero Condor and Star Peru fly in this route. Currently only Lan Peru has flights between Cusco and Juliaca. Flight time is only around 50 minutes.
Reach Puno by bus from Cusco and Arequipa. Lima is too far to move by Bus.
From Cusco it takes from six to seven hours to reach Puno
From Arequipa it takes only five hours.
Reach Puno from Cusco by train it takes at least ten hours this is the best and funny train journey in Peru so it passes over great altitude of 11500 feet the train riding scenery is considered one of the best in all Peru. Trains departure is from Cusco’s Huanchaq train station. Peru Rail is the train company which offers this journey by different quality and rate services.
