MAUKALLAQTA 01 DAY

INTRODUCTION

Maukallaqta archeological site is located at the province of Paruro, in Cusco region which is not visited so much. It let us know and understand better the origin of the South American ancient culture developed exactly at Cusco valley. Is on this place where begin the legend of the origin of the Incas so great chance to spend a cultural day.

ITINERARY

DAY 01: CUZCO / MAUKALLAQTA - CUZCO

We leave Cusco city very early, driving toward Yaurisque village which contains colonial age remaining. The walking takes us through beauty geography till the archeological site of Maukallaqta getting extensive information from our guide about the area.

The place is clearly Incas’ building composed by enclosure decorated with vaulted jamb niches, Shelters double-jamb doors, story fountains and water channels, as well as being surrounded by spectacular geography.

At the peak of the Puma Orco hill, we can see several pumas carved into the limestone, possibly originating from the Eocene – Oligocene period. The mythical caves of the Ayar brother’s leyend are located at the base of this hill. On afternoon we walk to the main road to take our back transportation to Cusco city.
